Rhythm, Tempo, Meter, and Practice Timing

Tempo, meter, and a dependable pulse

This category owns time itself: setting and playing a pulse, measuring a tapped tempo, converting between tempo representations, and structuring practice around subdivisions. It excludes pitch and harmonic ear training, which live under Ear Training and Playable Exploration.

Two different jobs: setting a pulse, and measuring one

Deciding on a tempo and measuring a tempo you already have in your head are different problems with different honesty requirements. The Metronome schedules an audible, editable pulse against the Web Audio clock rather than a UI timer, so it stays accurate even under normal browser load. The Tap Tempo tool instead estimates a working BPM from a handful of taps and reports how consistent those taps were, without pretending a few taps can measure a song's tempo exactly.
