This tool lists every tempo step in order, including both endpoints exactly once, and totals the planned bars and time. Understand
A tempo ramp is simply a finite list of BPM values to practice at in order, each held for a stated number of bars before moving to the next. Whether you are speeding up toward a performance tempo or slowing down for a careful read-through, the same plan structure applies; only the step direction changes.
Worked examples
A ramp from 60 to 100 BPM in steps of 5 lists 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, with both 60 and 100 appearing exactly once, even at the boundary. Reversing the direction, from 100 down to 60 at the same step size, produces the exact inverse list: 100, 95, 90, and so on down to 60.
Method and limitations
The tool steps from the start BPM toward the end BPM by the stated increment, stopping just short of the end value, then appends the end value itself exactly once, so a step size that does not divide the range evenly never causes a duplicate or a skipped endpoint. Total planned bars and time are the per-step bar count multiplied by the number of steps, then converted to seconds at each step's own tempo. This tool builds the plan only; it does not claim any specific ramp rate, starting tempo, or ending tempo is appropriate for a given piece or player, since that is a subjective practice judgment.
A start BPM equal to the end BPM produces a one-step "ramp" holding a single tempo for the stated bars, a degenerate but valid case rather than an error, since a fixed-tempo practice block is a legitimate use of the same plan structure. When a step size does not evenly divide the range, only the very last step's actual gap differs from the others, since every step before it advances by the full stated increment; this tool never redistributes that remainder evenly across every step instead.
