Understand
A graded rhythm exercise controls its difficulty by which durations it allows, not by how many bars it spans. An easy exercise only uses quarter and half notes; a hard exercise adds sixteenths and dotted eighths, patterns that need finer subdivision to read correctly. Every bar this tool produces sums exactly to the stated meter, whatever the difficulty.
Worked examples
A four-bar easy exercise in 4/4 never contains a sixteenth or an eighth note, since those durations are outside the easy vocabulary entirely, not merely de-emphasized. Every one of its four bars still sums to exactly four beats, the same exact-fill guarantee a harder difficulty also satisfies with a wider duration vocabulary.
Method and limitations
Each bar is generated independently by the same seeded, bounded backtracking generator Rhythm Pattern Generator uses, restricted to the selected difficulty's fixed duration list, and validated to sum exactly to the bar's own length before being accepted. The same seed always reproduces the same exercise, supporting both repeatable practice and deterministic fixture testing. This tool builds a readable exercise; it has no way to observe or grade how accurately you actually read it, and any such assessment would need a separate input this tool does not collect.
Each bar is generated independently of the others, so a hard difficulty's exercise is not guaranteed to use every allowed duration in every bar; it only guarantees that every duration it does use comes from the declared vocabulary and that the bar sums exactly. Regenerating with the same seed and difficulty but a different bar count changes only how many independent bars are produced, never the per-bar generation rule itself.
