Ear Training and Playable Exploration

Deliberate listening and note-location practice

This category owns deliberate, session-scoped practice: hearing and identifying musical material, and locating notes on an instrument. It excludes passive audio-file analysis, which lives under Local Audio Analysis and Recognition, and it never claims to diagnose a user's overall ear-training ability from a single session.

A fair drill, not a verdict

Every generator in this category uses a seeded pseudorandom sequence so a question can be reproduced exactly in tests, without building a permanent profile of the user. The Interval Ear Trainer plays a generated interval and checks the typed-in answer against the generated data itself, never against a claim about the user's hearing. The Fretboard Note Explorer maps a target note or scale to every matching position on a chosen guitar or bass tuning, with an optional random-target practice mode.
