Understand
This launch scope covers major, minor, diminished, and augmented triads only, in root position, so the sound of quality itself stays the variable, not voicing or inversion. A wrong answer here is only ever a fact about this one generated question. It is never a diagnosis of your hearing, and no claim is made that any one quality "sounds happy" or "sounds sad" universally.
Worked example
A generated question might play a D minor 7th chord and expect the answer "minor 7th." The evidence shown after your answer lists the actual generated root and tones (D, F, A, C), so you can check your ear against the real generated chord rather than a vague description of it.
Method and limitations
Each question picks a root and quality from a seeded pseudorandom sequence, builds the chord using the same formula vocabulary as Chord Builder, and plays it after your gesture. Session settings persist locally only after you interact with them; results are not stored by default and no quality, pitch, or answer value ever enters analytics.
Why triads before sevenths
Major, minor, diminished, and augmented triads differ from each other by only one or two semitones in their third and fifth, which makes distinguishing them a genuinely learnable, bounded skill before layering on the extra ambiguity a seventh or an altered extension introduces. This launch scope deliberately stays with root-position triads so the quality itself, not voicing or inversion, is what you are training your ear against.
