Understand
"BPM" is only unambiguous once you name its beat unit: 120 BPM with a quarter-note beat is a very different pulse from 120 BPM with an eighth-note beat, even though the number is identical. This tool never assumes quarter-note BPM silently; the beat unit you select is always the one the bar duration and table are built from.
Worked example
At 120 BPM with a quarter-note beat, a quarter note lasts 500 ms and an eighth note lasts 250 ms. Doubling the BPM to 240 halves every value in the table, since every duration here is directly proportional to 60000 / BPM.
Method and limitations
Every duration uses the same rational relationship as the underlying beat: a note value's duration in quarter notes (whole 4, half 2, quarter 1, eighth 1/2, sixteenth 1/4, with dotted and triplet modifiers) multiplied by the quarter-note duration implied by your BPM and beat unit. A bar's total duration is beats-per-bar multiplied by one beat's duration. Values keep full internal precision and round only for display.
