Understand
An LFO's rate in Hz and its period in milliseconds are exact reciprocals of each other, which is why this tool always shows both: some synths and plug-ins expose one, some the other, and a few expose a named tempo-sync division whose exact label may not match every DAW's own naming convention.
Worked example
At 120 BPM, a quarter-note LFO has a period of 0.5 seconds and a rate of 2 Hz. Doubling the BPM doubles the rate and halves the period, since both move directly with tempo.
Method and limitations
Period uses the same rational tempo-duration formula as Tempo-Synced Delay Calculator; rate is 1000 / periodMs. This tool does not account for a modulation phase reset behavior a specific synth might apply, nor does it match every DAW's own tempo-sync division labels exactly.
Where a synced LFO actually gets used
A tempo-synced LFO shows up constantly in tremolo, auto-pan, filter-sweep, and pitch modulation effects, anywhere a rhythmic pulse should audibly lock to the song rather than drift against it. A free-running (non-synced) LFO at a similar rate will slowly phase in and out of alignment with the beat, which is the exact problem a tempo-synced rate is chosen specifically to avoid.
