A reverb "starting time" is a defensible, tempo-related number to dial in first, not a claim about what will sound best: the source material, the reverb algorithm, and the rest of the mix all still matter. This tool never models a specific plug-in's decay curve or prescribes a final mix setting.

Worked example

At 120 BPM, a quarter note lasts 0.5 seconds before any multiplier is applied. Doubling the BPM halves that starting value, since it is directly proportional to the beat duration.

Method and limitations

The tool applies the same rational tempo-duration formula as Tempo-Synced Delay Calculator, then multiplies by your chosen factor (a half-time or double-time feel, for example). The result is a starting reverb time in milliseconds and seconds, not a prescribed RT60 or a decay-curve shape.

Why a multiplier instead of a fixed division

A single tempo-derived note duration is often too short or too long to feel natural as a reverb tail on its own, which is why the multiplier exists as a separate control: it lets you scale that same tempo-locked base value up or down (a quarter-time or double-time feel, for example) without abandoning the tempo relationship that made the starting value musically defensible in the first place.
