Understand
This tool answers "where is the energy right now," nothing more: it never identifies an instrument, a note, or a mix problem from the shape of a spectrum. A visual plot alone cannot serve every user, so the dominant frequency band is described in plain text before any visual representation.
Worked example
A frame taken from a clean 1,000 Hz sine tone shows energy concentrated tightly around 1,000 Hz, with very little elsewhere. A frame taken from digital silence shows no meaningful energy anywhere in the spectrum.
Method and limitations
The tool takes a 2,048-sample Hann-windowed frame at your chosen position and computes its FFT magnitude spectrum in dB. Frequency resolution is fixed by the FFT size and actual sample rate, a tradeoff between frequency precision and time locality that a larger FFT size would not remove. The plot is illustrative evidence only, not a replacement for the text summary.
Why the text summary comes before the plot
A visual spectrum plot excludes anyone who cannot see it clearly, so this page states the dominant frequency band and quality state in plain text as the actual answer, with any chart or table serving only as illustrative evidence layered on top. That ordering also keeps the page honest about what a spectrum snapshot can and cannot tell you: where energy currently sits, not what produced it.
